Mixed Media and Altered Art by

Artistic Ramblings 10
This piece was initially created lastweek for Mixed Media Monday's
"Look What I Found" Challenge.
8 x 10 Mixed Media Collage
on watercolor paper.
The story behind this collage:
My mother was born into a family of
12 children during the time of The
Great Depression. Needless to say,
times were hard.
One day when she was quite young, she
and some of her siblings went to a carnival that had come to town. When my mother got there, she discovered that there was going to be a bike raffled off at the end of the day. All she knew was that she wanted
to win it.
So, as other children at the event went
on rides and had a good time, my mother
spent her day searching for raffle tickets
that people discarded on the ground.
After collecting them for hours, she
wrote all the numbers down on a piece
of paper so that if one of the numbers
was called, she would have it readily
available.
At last the moment arrived, the lucky
ticket was drawn--and my mom won
the bicycle!
That story taught me a valuable lesson--
that if you want something in life,
never give up. I pass that valuable lesson
on to you...with love.
I just completed this piece to give to
my niece Tiffany for her birthday...
Hopefully, as time goes on she can
pass the legacy of that story on to
her children, as well.

Mixed Media Monday--Wedded Bliss
Wedded Bliss
The very talented Rosie gave us a challenge for this week and since I
was going to be out of town I truly wanted to participate, so I created
this as soon as I heard about it. This wedding piece was made with
commercial papers and embellishments. Includes the image of
a classic painting.
