Merry Christmas from New Orleans

Today I snapped some quick pictures of our house to show you what I'm
up to when I'm not entering art challenges!  I took pictures of a few of the
rooms downstairs and one of the fireplaces.  On our baker's rack are
red bags containing all the Christmas cards and tags I made for friends
and family last week.  On my livingroom table is a family heirloom,
which is a statue of Joan of Arc, the patron saint of New Orleans
surrounded by poinsettias.  Merry Christmas!

Christmas Foliage Challenge:  MTTC
This collage card was made for a friend of mine who is a "fashionista" and a fan of Paris.  So, in addition to foliage, there
is black and white flocked damask, images of a vintage fashion model
and the Eiffel Tower, plus lots of gold
embellishments.  The URL for this
challenge is listed at the top of the
page if you wish to view the
challenge--thank you!
This year, I made some hanging collage
cards and gifts for friends for a special gathering at my home.  They include both traditional and non-traditional themes and colors to match each person's hobbies and interests.
As you can see here, they are
displayed on a wooden birdcage.

My Time to Craft Challenge
Theme Thursday Challenge

"Vintage"

I just completed 2 mixed
media pieces made from
commercial monogram letters
that I embellished with vintage
photos (these 2 have the same
girl's picture on them.) I also
used flowers, beads, magnets, and
buttons.  These are actually
Christmas gifts for friends, so I have
been busy creating a totally vintage
Christmas gift theme. Please see
close-up below.

I suspended them from some fleur
de lis table decorations only for
purposes of taking a photo.

Saturday Surprise Challenge
Please read about my own
Saturday Christmas surprise!
     Christmas Makes a
         House a Home

I collect birdhouses, so this
challenge gave me the
opportunity to use some
familiar altered art elements
 in a 3-dimensional work.

The bird, as well as female image are from the Graphics Fairy.  Also created with commercial papers
and embellishments.
The piece is 11 inches tall.

Thanks for looking!!!!

For those interested in
viewing the challenge, the url
is listed at the top left of this page.
Quite a surprise, indeed!
I created the Christmas bird house on Friday night, took pictures and set it out on
display.

Then, a dear friend,
Polly Boudreaux brought
a scrumptious surprise to my
door!  It was peanut butter
cookies with chocolate and
blueberry scones with lemon
glaze.    She is a culinary
wonder!  I had to snap a
pic--it's not Christmas
without goodies, is it?
A Special Christmas Tribute

This altered art piece was created to thank all of those who work so hard
at The Times-Picayune newspaper to wish each and every one of them and their families a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Nothing seems to send the message of the holidays clearer than
the wide-eyed innocence of a child, so that is why I incorporated
the vintage image of this little girl into the piece surrounded by
the colorfulness of Christmas bulbs and poinsettias.
